Automotive Electric Tailgate Strut Motor Assembly Line: Precision Assembly of Lead Screws for High-Thrust, Low-Noise Products
Electric tailgate liftgate motors are required to generate substantial thrust within a compact space; consequently, the precision of their lead screw transmission and the control of operational noise present significant manufacturing challenges. Our company's liftgate motor assembly line employs advanced techniques for precision lead screw assembly and noise testing, achieving a transmission efficiency exceeding 85% and operational noise levels below 45 dB.
The core processes of this production line include: automated grinding and inspection of lead screws-utilizing CNC thread grinding machines to achieve a pitch accuracy of ±0.005 mm and a surface roughness of Ra 0.4; automated selection and pairing of lead screws and nuts-employing pneumatic gauges to measure fit clearance and automatically matching components in increments of 0.001 mm to ensure smooth, jam-free transmission; and automated alignment and assembly of the motor and lead screw-utilizing laser alignment systems to maintain coaxiality within 0.02 mm, thereby eliminating wear and noise caused by eccentric loading.
Thrust and noise testing constitute critical stations within this production line: a dedicated thrust test bench is configured to simulate the tailgate's load curve, measuring parameters such as maximum thrust, operating speed, and current draw. Noise testing is conducted within a semi-anechoic chamber to identify defects-such as gear meshing noise, abnormal bearing sounds, and lead screw friction noise-and to automatically generate a spectral analysis report. Additionally, the production line performs product lifecycle testing, simulating 100,000 open-and-close cycles to validate the product's long-term durability.
This production line supports the manufacturing of liftgate motors for various vehicle models and thrust specifications; model changeovers are accomplished by simply swapping fixtures and loading the corresponding software program, a process that takes just 20 minutes. Safety safeguards comply with CE standards, with critical workstations equipped with safety light curtains and two-hand control buttons. With a single-shift production capacity of 400 units, this production line enables our clients to achieve high-quality manufacturing of electric tailgate liftgate motors, thereby meeting the stringent requirements of automotive OEMs regarding the comfort and reliability of intelligent opening and closing systems.
